Prayer

Prayer, as we’ve mentioned in other places on this site, is a significant part of the life of the church.

We hold regular weekly prayer meetings, missionary focused prayer meetings and take an active part in a monthly ecumenical  United churches prayer meeting in the area.

Additionally, we hold occasional Prayer Vigils usually lasting 24 hours.

Prayer is the other church strand which, like the discipleship group, has taken a back seat whilst the other strands develop themselves.

It is, however, the intention soon to bring together those who have a particular interest and maybe feel they have a particular responsibility in prayer.

These people, we hope, will work together to build up the existing prayer life of the church and help us all to understand more and take more opportunities to grow in our commitment to both prayer and fasting.

As that group meets we will update this page for those who are interested.

It has been said that the most valuable guide to helping us in our prayer life is the model which Jesus himself gave us. The following words, known to many already come from Matthew Chapter 6 verses 9 -14 The words are Jesus’ own.

‘This, then, is how you should pray: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.’              Amen

Regular prayer meetings are held concerning
those on the mission field overseas and in UK
