Session Report

NOTES FOLLOWING SESSION MEETING 25TH FEBRUARY, 2011

Following the Congregational Board Meeting held in the Church Hall at Kincraig on Friday 25thFebruary, 2011, the Kirk Session met.
Ÿ
The Session dealt with all matters concerning preparations for Presbytery of Rolls & Records for our congregation. These will be inspected, as usual, following March Presbytery.
Ÿ
The Elders record their gratitude for all the work undertaken by so many of the worshippers at Alvie & Insh.
Ÿ
The Session has agreed to meet together each Friday evening during March to pray for the work and life of the church in our area.
Ÿ
The Session has proposed a joint Session meeting with Aviemore – details to be confirmed by Aviemore.
Ÿ
Clerk reported current business before the Presbytery. This included the work taking place towards creating a new Presbytery Plan. This was directed by General Assembly of 2010.  For us, it will reflect the way the whole Presbytery will seek to allocate full time ministries in the Abernethy area. In the next short while it is planned that all congregations will hold open church Vision Days. These will encourage all congregations to look at who they are and what they are doing in His service. This consultative input will then help inform those vested with the responsibility to create the Presbytery Plan later this year.
Ÿ
The Session fixed times for Easter worship and these will be presented via intimations and Crosscurrents.
Ÿ
Ron Whyte will be away for holidays and Air Training Corps duties – on these Sundays members &/or groups of members of the congregation will be invited to take services. Communion will be lead by a Minister should that occur on one of Ron’s Sundays out of the pulpit.
Ÿ
Clerk advised Session that several folk from different denominations were in the process of bringing into effect work begun by Rev. David Whyte to open a branch of Healing Rooms Scotland, in Aviemore. More information will be made available, as will training for anyone who wishes to commit to this work which is scheduled to begin in June 2011. Letters will be forwarded to all church leaders throughout the area so all of their membership can be kept informed and take part if they choose.
Ÿ
Session expressed its huge admiration for Penny and her amazing fund-raising cycle trip in Africa.
Ÿ
Session agreed to re-commence evening services in Alvie Church after Easter now road & parking conditions are improving.
Ÿ
Session was invited by Ron Whyte (Church & Society Committee of Presbytery) to be involved in planning a Hustings at Aviemore Centre Auditorium on 28-4-11.   Intimation is also given that the meeting is open to the public with times to be confirmed. Spokesmen from all major political parties are to attend. It is also hoped some of the smaller groupings will make it along.
Ÿ
Session noted Annual Stated Meeting to be held in Church Hall on March 22nd at 7.30 pm.
